About Kimberly Carson

I am proud to be a fourth-generation resident of Limerick Township—a place that has shaped who I am and where my heart has always remained. My family’s roots here run deep, and the time I spent with Harold and Rita Gunter helped instill in me a lasting appreciation for community, hard work, and the importance of protecting what makes Limerick so special.

Over the past four years, it has been an honour to serve as your Mayor. During that time, I have worked to protect our clean waterways, support responsible growth, and preserve the natural beauty that defines our township. I’ve seen both the challenges and opportunities we face, and I remain committed to ensuring Limerick continues to thrive while maintaining the character we all value.

Like many of you, I take full advantage of everything Limerick has to offer. Whether it’s fishing in the summer and winter, kayaking along our waterways, or enjoying our trails for hiking, snowmobiling, and skiing, I share the same deep connection to this land. Our sunsets, our lakes, and our trails are not just amenities—they are part of our identity. As more people discover Limerick, including through the growing ATV trail network, we have an opportunity to share our community while protecting it for future generations. Beyond municipal leadership, I serve as the CEO of a national charity dedicated to improving the lives of families impacted by serious illness. I hold two Bachelor of Arts degrees and a Master’s in Leadership, and I have spent much of my life working in and around public service.

This experience, along with the relationships I’ve built across all levels of government, allows me to advocate effectively for Limerick and its residents.
Being Mayor has reinforced for me that this role is about service—listening to residents, making thoughtful decisions, and always putting the community first. I remain committed to keeping Limerick a place where people can afford to live, work, and enjoy a high quality of life.

It continues to be a privilege to serve this community, and I respectfully ask for your support and your vote on October 26, 2026.

WHAT I WILL DELIVER TO LIMERICK TOWNSHIP

PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT & WATERWAYS

After four years as Mayor, I’ve seen firsthand how our environment is changing—and how deeply those changes affect life in Limerick. We’ve faced repeated ice storms, flooding, periods of drought, and one of the longest, harshest winters in recent memory. These are no longer rare events; they are ongoing challenges that test the resilience of our small, rural community.

Protecting our natural environment and clean waterways remains central to our way of life. Residents understand that Limerick does not have large-scale infrastructure systems—we rely on practical, hands-on approaches to maintain our roads and respond to changing conditions. That reality requires us to be adaptable, resourceful, and focused on what matters most: keeping our community safe and connected.

Our strength lies in partnership where it matters most. We will continue working closely with the Province and Hastings County to support emergency preparedness and response, while continuing to build the capacity of our volunteer fire department—an essential service that has grown over time through dedication, training, and donated equipment. As weather events become more unpredictable, ensuring they have the tools and support they need will remain a priority.

We are equally proud of how we manage and maintain our roads. Despite limited resources, we consistently meet—and often exceed—required standards without placing additional financial burden on the township. Our approach is practical, efficient, and grounded in local knowledge, and it has not gone unnoticed.

We have received letters of recognition acknowledging the quality of our work and the commitment behind it. Community support continues to play an important role in helping us respond to climate pressures, particularly when it comes to equipping and supporting our first responders. That collaboration has proven invaluable during recent extreme weather events and will remain part of how we adapt moving forward.

Our focus is clear: be prepared for flooding, respond effectively to severe weather, and continue maintaining our road network with a practical, sustainable approach. We will also ensure that any new development respects the environmental standards that protect our waterways and natural surroundings.

The past four years have reinforced that resilience in Limerick doesn’t come from large systems—it comes from experience, strong partnerships, and a community that works together.

ATTRACTING NEW BUSINESS

Over the past four years, we’ve made real progress in strengthening Limerick’s local economy and creating opportunities closer to home. The Station is now open, employing local residents, showcasing local talent, and even offering fuel services—something many in our community have long needed. We’ve also welcomed new opportunities for recreation and tourism, including canoe and kayak rentals and other seasonal equipment, helping both residents and visitors experience everything Limerick has to offer. Just as importantly, we’ve seen a number of new owner-operated businesses choose to call Limerick home.

We’ve also attracted innovative investment. NordSpace has purchased one of our former gravel pits and is conducting testing related to their Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX). Their presence in Limerick represents a unique opportunity for future growth, with plans to expand operations, hire local talent, and create new experiences for the public—including an observatory and opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with the work being done.

But we know there is still more to do. For too long, we’ve heard that young people have had to leave to find work. While we’ve started to change that narrative, we must keep building on this momentum.

As Mayor, I will continue to actively promote Limerick Township as a place where small, service-oriented businesses can succeed. That means working directly with business owners, entrepreneurs, and regional partners to highlight the advantages of operating in our community. It also means continuing to attract investment—both traditional and innovative—that aligns with our values and enhances our way of life.

Sustainable growth in small business is key to strengthening our local economy and supporting our residents. By expanding our commercial base in a thoughtful and appropriate way, we can help ensure that the tax burden is more balanced, while maintaining the character and affordability that make Limerick such a special place to live.

KEEPING TAXES LOW

After four years as Mayor, I’m proud that Limerick Township has kept taxes low without compromising the services and amenities our residents rely on. This has not been easy especially as some neighbouring communities have faced increases of 18% or more—but through disciplined budgeting, careful planning, and a focus on value, we have continued to deliver for our community while keeping costs under control.

We’ve shown that it’s possible to manage responsibly, even in challenging times, without shifting the burden onto residents. But we also know that long-term sustainability means doing more than holding the line.

That’s why continuing to strengthen and diversify our tax base remains a priority. By encouraging appropriate commercial growth and supporting local businesses, we can create a better balance between residential and commercial taxation. This approach helps reduce pressure on homeowners while supporting economic activity that benefits the entire township.

My commitment remains clear: to keep Limerick affordable, to protect the services our residents depend on, and to ensure that everyone who wants to live and work here can continue to do so.
